Nice genuine interwar US Army group photograph showing elements of Battery L, 245th Coast Artillery Regiment, which provided the Harbor Defenses of New York. This picture was taken at Camp Smith, New York in 1935.

Organized 3-11-1776 as the Kings Country Militia where it served in the American Revolution. Regt redesignated 64th Inf Regt NY State Militia 7-4-1812. Mustered out 12-2-1814. Reorganized as 13th Inf NY St Militia 5-13-1847. Mustered into service 4-23-61 and mustered out 8-6-1861. Mustered in 6-21-1863 and mustered out 7-20-1863. Resumed state service. Mustered into federal service 5-24-1898 and redesignated 22nd NY Vol Inf Regt. Mustered out 11-23-1898. Redesignated 13th HA Regt 2-8-1900. Redesignated 13th CAC NY NG 9-1-06 Redesignated 13th Arty Dist 1-23-08. Redesignated 13th CDC NY NG CAC 8-10-14. Mustered into federal service 7-16-17 and assigned to the CD Southern New York. Elements transferred to 59th Arty CAC for service in France Mustered out 12-7-18. Reorganized as 13th CDC NY NG 8-17-19 and redesignated 245th Arty, CAC NY NG 1-1-24 and redesignated 245th CA (HD) Regt 5-14-24. Inducted into federal service 9-16-40 at Brooklyn, NY and moved to Ft Hancock in HD Sandy Hook 9-24-40. Moved to Ft Wadsworth 5-20-43 and moved to Ft Hancock 3-1-44. Regt inactivated at Ft Hancock 10-7-44. HHB 1st m 2nd 3rd and 4th Bns and Btrys L and M inactivated and remainder of regt reorganized and redesignated as 192nd and 245th CA (HD) Bns.
