Genuine WWII US Army khaki canvas barrack bag, issued in pairs to every GI and generally used as a laundry bag.
Quite good, used condition; name Maurice L. Wakefield and ASN 20730025 have been stenciled on the outer surface.
Maurice Law Wakefield was born on February 11, 1915 in Bonesteel, South Dakota and joined the Missouri National Guard on September 5, 1938 (Anti-Tank Company, 140th Infantry Regiment), prior to being inducted into Federal Service on December 23, 1940. He transferred to Company A, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division and deployed to Europe, where he was killed in action on September 19, 1944. His body was buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Liège, Belgium (plot F, row 9, grave 40).

Genuine WWI US Army Infantry Officer collar insignia (crossed rifles), intended for Company F, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. Quite good, worn condition. Pin is in working order. As part of the first American soldiers to arrive in France, the 26th Inf. Regt. immediately left for the front. Along with its sister regiments of the division, it earned more campaign streamers than any other regiments during World War I. However, they came at a terrible cost. Over 900 Blue Spaders died in a six-month period. At Soissons alone, the regimental commander executive officer, two of three battalion commanders and the regimental sergeant major were killed in action; sixty-two officers were killed or wounded; and of the 3,100 Blue Spaders that started the attack, over 1,500 had been killed or wounded. But the battle was won and this turned the tide for the Allies at a crucial period during the summer of 1918. By the war's end, the soldiers had earned seven battle streamers and two foreign awards.

Nice genuine WWII US Purple Heart Medal, coming in its original case with ribbon bar and lapel badge. Name Herman Schwamenfeld has been engraved on the reverse. Great homogeneous set, in very good overall condition. Herman Schwamenfeld was born on January 1st, 1911 in New York and joined the US Army on March 31, 1944 (ASN 42126947). He went on to serve with Company I, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division and deployed to Europe, where he was wounded by shrapnel in the shoulder in November 1944. Loughram [sic]has been engraved on the reverse of the medal. William Francis Loughran was born on September 19, 1918 in Highland, New York and joined the US Army on February 14, 1938 (ASN 06907977). He was discharged on February 13, 1941 as a Sergeant, prior to reenlisting eight days later in the same unit -- Company G, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He deployed to North Africa, Sicily and Normandy, and was discharged as a Private. Great genuine WWII US Army officer's service jacket, dark OD wool gabardine. Complete with all buttons; belt is missing. Tailor's labels are still present. The present jacket retains all its original buttons and the following insiginias: 1st Infantry Division shoulder patch, 1st Lieutenant rank insignias, US and Chemical Warfare Service collar insignias. Excellent overall condition. Name Edward S. Hayes is still visible on the tag sewn in the collar.
