Great genuine WWII US Navy short-sleeved cotton seersucker dress, intended for personnel of the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) and designed for being worn with or without the black neckerchief. Here the dress has its genuine black neckerchief belonged to the same woman.
It retains its original Yeoman 2nd Class sleeve insignia.
Very good, worn condition, despite some tears on shoulders; original buttons, Talon zipper is in working order.
No size indication. Shoulder width: 14.2in; waist 20.
The name tag sewn in the collar and neckerchief indicates that the present uniform once belonged to some Grace Rebecca Walsh.
Grace Rebecca Walsh was born on May 24, 1924 in Buffalo, New York and joined the US Navy on December 28, 1944. She was discharged on August 24, 1946 as a Yeoman 2nd Class, and married John Clyde Lord in 1947. She passed away on July 14, 2023.
