Armband, Comité Parisien de Libération, French Resistance

€275.00

Scarce genuine WWII French Resistance armband, theater-made. Made up of a red rayon band and features a French flag. Letters CPL have been inked in the middle of the flag, on which the specific stamp of the Préfecture de Police is also visible.

The Comité parisien de libération (Parisian Committee of Liberation) was created on October 23, 1943. It was made up of representatives from the main movements, parties and underground unions. The CPL struggled to prove itself against FFI organizations but eventually achieved recognition through the intervention of the CNR, which recognized their authority. It was the CPL who launched the call to insurrection on August 18, 1944, cordoned the Hôtel de Ville on August 21 and installed themselves there. It served as the town and county council meeting place until the installation of provisional assemblies.

Very good overall condition.
