Rare genuine French Médaille Militaire, posthumously awarded on May 16, 1922 to Soldat Henri Motin, 23e Régiment territorial d'infanterie, who died of wounds received in action on February 27, 1915 at Taissy, Marne.
The present medal, which is complete and in very good overall condition, comes along with the official letter and temporary certificate issued in Caen on August 2, 1922 and subsequently forwarded to the above-mentioned serviceman's widow; quite interestingly, name Motin has been wronly written Mottin on these two original documents.
A great homogeneous set, which reminds us of the sacrifice of this 'Poilu'.
Henri, Eugène Motin was born on May 4, 1876 in Caen, Calvados. He died of wounds on February 27, 1915, and was later buried in the French War Cemetery of Sillery, Marne (grave #283).
