Card, Henri Mamalet, Forces Françaises de l'Intérieur, Paris, 1944

Genuine WWII French Forces of the Interior individual card, issued to some Henri Mamalet of the 'Autobus' section in Paris in August 1944.

Complete and in excellent overall condition.

Henri Mamalet was born on November 29, 1896 in Estivaux, Corrèze département. He was drafted on April 10, 1915 (service number 926, Brive-la-Gaillarde) and went on to serve in the 88e Régiment d'infanterie prior to transferring to the 160e RI on April 28, 1916, and was wounded in action on November 15 of that year at Sailly-Saillisel, in the Somme (shrapnel in the left forearm).

Transferring to the 79e RI on May 22, 1917 and to the 175e RI on September 11 of that year (Armée d'Orient or 'Eastern Army'), he was promoted to the rank of Corporal on September 26, 1918 and finally transferred to the 45e RI two days after the Armistice. He was repatriated on June 20, 1919. A recipient of the Croix du Combattant, he was mentioned in despatches: 'A brave soldier, he participated in a patrol which made prisoners. Was wounded by shrapnel.'

After the Great War, he lived in the Paris area, passed the HGV licence on July 19, 1939, and built a career in the Transports en Commun de la Région Parisienne (public transport).
