Genuine WWII US blue-grey tin box for M5 protective ointment kit, to be applied before or after exposure to vesicants.
This is the early production type, which was issued to every GI on the occasion of the Normandy landings — the small container was generally carried in the gas mask bag.
The kit included four ointment tubes (Ointment, Protective, M5) and an eye ointment tube; in 1945, this type was superseded by a new version, the tin box being painted green and featuring a different opening system.
Quite good, used condition.
