Genuine WWII US Army officer's garrison cap, Dark OD 51 wool, with black and gold piping. Manufactured by Berkshire. Size 7.
The present cap is in quite good, worn condition and retains its original 1st Lieutenant rank insignia.
Initials W.F.B. have been written on the lining and name Lt. W. Baumbach on the reverse of the russet leather sweatband.
Walter Frederick Baumbach, Jr. was born on January 3, 1919 in Newport, Pennsylvania and joined the US Army on March 20, 1942 (ASN 33164672). He was discharged on March 15, 1946 as a 1st Lieutenant (ASN O-1557249) and passed away on March 28, 2000.
