Genuine WWII US shoulder sleeve insignia of the 99th Infantry Division 'Checkerboard'. This is a reverse pattern shoulder patch. The patch is a black shield with a blue and white checkerboard pattern across the middle.

This division was hit pretty roughly during the Battle of the Bulge where the division was virtually destroyed.
