Lot of two genuine WWII US Bronze Star Medals, each coming in its original case along with ribbon bar and lapel badge; one of the two sets retains its cardboard box.
Name Steve Smolyn has been engraved on the reverse of both medals.
Rare homogeneous grouping, in excellent overall condition.
Steve Smolyn was born on March 31, 1912 in Chicago, Illinois and joined the US Army on June 10, 1941 (ASN 36035555). He went on to serve with Anti-Tank Company, 11th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division and deployed to Europe, and was subsequently awarded the Bronze Star for his heroic action of March 24, 1945, during which he destroyed a German machine gun position with a rocket launcher. He was discharged on September 16, 1945 as a Private First Class, and passed away on February 18, 1982.
