Genuine WWII US Purple Heart Medal, coming in its original case along with its lapel badge and two spare ribbons.
Name Joseph R. Stefanik has been engraved on the reverse of the medal.
The cardboard box in which this set was sent to its beneficiary — here, the recipient's mother — and the delivery note complete this great homogeneous set, in excellent overall condition.
Joseph Robert Stefanik was born on July 7, 1922 in Fall River, Massachusetts and joined the US Army on September 17, 1942 (ASN 31203535). He went on to serve with various units prior to deploying to Europe with Company B, 28th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division, and was killed in action in Germany a few weeks later, on December 23, 1944 at Kommerscheidt, North Rhine-Westphalia. His body was repatriated in 1949.
