Name Alcus Simpler has been engraved on the reverse of the medal.
Nice homogeneous set, in excellent overall condition.
Alcus Simpler was born on January 5, 1920 in Bullock, Alabama and joined the US Army on January 14, 1942 (ASN 34165855). He went on to serve with Headquarters Battery, 56th Field Artillery Battalion, 8th Infantry Division and deployed to Europe, where he was killed in action on July 1944 in Normandy (shrapnel in the back). Initially buried in Blosville, France, his body was repatriated and interred in his hometown in 1948.
