Rare genuine WWII US Army grouping, made up of a Purple Heart medal coming in its original case along with ribbon bar and lapel badge, and a Bronze Star medal coming in its original case with lapel badge and calling card.
Name Irie J. Grogg has been engraved on the reverse of the Bronze Star.
Irie Jennings Grogg was born on July 27, 1922 in Virginia and joined the US Army on December 13, 1940 (ASN 15015740). He went on to serve with Company F, 307th Infantry Regiment, 77th Infantry Division, deployed to the Pacific and participated in every major battle his unit was involved in, such as Guam and Okinawa, where he was wouned in action on May 1st, 1945. He was discharged on August 2, 1945 as a Sergeant, resumed active service form July 12, 1946 to June 17, 1966, and eventually retired as a Staff Sergeant. He passed away on November 21, 2003.
