Flag, Japanese, Hinomaru yosegaki, 'Everlasting Fortune in Battle'

Amazing genuine WWII Japanese flag of the Hinomaru yosegaki type, made in rayon.

A traditional gift to Nipponese troops deployed during the campaigns of the Empire of Japan, such flags were adorned with various messages of encouragement prior to being offered to servicemen by their families and friends.

Mention 武運長久 (Buun chōkyū) visible on the present flag could translate as 'Everlasting fortune in battle'.

Dimensions: about 20.70in x 29.15in.

Quite good, used condition; shows a small tear in the lower left part, and retains both cloth corners with cords.
