Genuine WWII USM3 trench knife, manufactured by Utica, hallmarked on blade and featuring the Ordnance Department flaming bomb stamped on pommel cap.

Comes in its original USM6 russet leather scabbard, featuring strengthening pieces consisting of two rectangular metal plates fastened by four rivets, which keep the leather parts together. Fastening of these leather pieces is also ensured by rivets and a strong sewn seam. Staples reinforce the top of the sheath on which the hilt rests. Snap fastener of securing strap is in working order. Markings U.S. M6 Viner Bros 1943 are clearly visible on the front.

A belt loop has been cut through the upper part of the scabbard, which has been modified to reach the handle of the knife more easily and from which the bent-wire hook has been removed. A braided leather shoelace adorns the lower part of the sheath.

Rare homogeneous set in rather good, used condition, found in Normandy.
