Genuine French Army BA-270/u battery, used for TR-PP-8 radios.

7 x 6.5 x 18.5 cm.

The TR-PP-8 (T: transmissions - R: radio - P: portable - P: voice - 8) is a subminiature transceiver shaped like a telephone handset that enables half-duplex voice communications.

It is the counterpart to the American AN/PRC-6, with virtually identical specifications. Together, they were intended to replace the SCR-536.

It is used for internal communications within small units. It can establish contact with infantry radios over part of their range. It is operated by personnel with minimal specialized training who must follow radio procedures.

It is a handheld-only radio, used either in the hand or suspended, and operated via a handset (H-33) equipped with a cord.
