Liner, Helmet, M1, Firestone, US Navy, PGF (Patrol Ship)

Amazing genuine WWII US M1 helmet liner of the synthetic resin-coated, compressed fiber type manufactured by Firestone. The outer surface has been entirely covered with a coat of blue gray paint, and initials PGF subsequently painted on the front. In all likelihood, this specific marking indicates that the helmet's wearer is on duty aboard a Patrol Ship.

Original cotton web suspension still present with neckband, leather sweatband and OD-painted A washers (partly corroded).

Good, worn condition.
