Nice genuine WWII US Army M1 helmet, featuring front seam and fixed bales, manufactured by McCord, shell number illegible. Original 1st pattern canvas chinstrap with brass buckle and hook. The First Army insignia has been painted on the right side of the shell, while the left side is adorned with the Ordnance Department flaming bomb -- some signs of paint still visible underneath tend to indicate that these insignias were painted over the AAAO emblem of the 39th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division. ASN 39697059 has been engraved on the front.

Comes with its original liner, manufactured by International Molded Plastics, Inc., complete with khaki webbing suspension and neckband, russet leather sweatband, and blackened-brass A washers.

Great homogeneous set, in good overall condition. The above-mentioned ASN was issued to Lee Howard Cutburth, who was born on August 14, 1918 in Neosho, Missouri and who was inducted in the US Army on March 27, 1943. He passed away on July 23, 2012.
