Genuine WWII US Army M1 helmet, front rim seam and fixed loops, manufactured by McCord, shell number 733C.
All surfaces of the shell have been covered with a layer of dark green, while a bright red square has been painted on both the front and the rear. The steel shows three dents on the top.
Comes along with its original liner, of the rare 'low pressure' type manufactured by Hood Rubber Co., retaining its cotton web suspension and neckband, leather sweatband, and A washers (oxidized). Only 206,000 of these liners were produced by this company from the fall of 1942 to the summer of 1943.
The outer surface of the liner, which features the same color as the helmet itself, has also been adorned with two bright red squares -- one on the front, one on the back.
Nice homogeneous set in quite good, worn condition.
