Genuine WWII US Army M1 helmet, front rim seam and fixed loops, manufactured by McCord, shell number illegible.
Original early production canvas chinstrap with brass buckle and hook.
Remnants of marking AAAO, which refers to regimental motto 'Anything, Anytime, Anywhere, Bar Nothing!, painted in white on each side of the shell, indicate that the present helmet once belonged to a GI serving with 39th Infantry Division, 9th Infantry Division.
Comes with its original liner, manufactured by Westinghouse, which retains its khaki cotton web suspension, leather sweatband, and OD-painted A washers.
Rare homogeneous set in quite good, worn condition -- found in Normandy.
