Genuine WWII US Army M1 helmet, front rim seam and fixed loops, manufactured by McCord, shell number 399.
Khaki canvas chinstrap with brass buckle and hook.
The insignia of the 66th Infantry Division has been painted on the outer surface, while partial ASN A-5211 is visible inside.
Primarily involved with destroying the German troops left behind in port cities in western France such as Lorient, St. Nazaire, Royan (Allied siege of La Rochelle following the retreat during the summer of 1944.
Comes with some original liner, manufactured by Firestone, featuring khaki cotton web suspension and neckband, leather sweatband, and blackened-brass A washers (oxidized), and retaining parts of its leather chinstrap; name Haley has been painted on the front, beneath a Private First Class rank stripe.
The present set is in quite good, worn condition.
