Scarce genuine WWII US Medical Departement ID card, introduced in 1942. This identification card was issued in accordance with instructions of the 1929 Geneva Convention, which required that protected military and civilian personnel should carry an official document to be recognized as non-fighting personnel.

In quite good, used condition, the present card bears number 43553. It was issued to some Roy Lee Archer, born on February 24, 1921 in Kingsport, Tennessee. He joined the US Army on September 10, 1942 (ASN 34369739). He went on to serve with the Medical Department and deployed to New Guinea. His son, Sergeant Jesse H. Archer, was killed in action in Vietnam on March 10, 1969. Roy passed away on December 5, 2011.
