Genuine WWII US Army medical armband, featuring a red cross embroidered on white cloth. Issued to all medical personnel deployed in the European Theater of Operations. Size: 3.93in x 17.32in.
Some pass, valid for a visit to Salisbury, England from 01:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on December 19, 1945 and issued to Roland L. Buggiani, ASN 39245571, Medical Detachment, 505th PIR, comes along with the present armband, which is in quite good overall condition and retains its safety pin. An original 82nd Airborne Division shoulder sleeve insignia completes this lot.
Roland Louis Buggiani was born on March 29, 1919 in São Paulo, Brazil in a family of Italian descent and arrived in New York City on June 7, 1920 at one year of age. He joined the US Army on June 19, 1942 and went on to serve with the Medical Department, becoming a citizen of the United States on March 5, 1943. Deploying to Europe with the Medical Detachment of 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, he was discharged on January 18, 1946 as a Technician 3rd Grade. He passed away on June 20, 1998.
