Helmet, M1, Firestone Liner, 1ère Armée française, 1944-1945

Amazing genuine WWII US M1 helmet, front seam and fixed bales, manufactured by McCord, illegible shell number. Original canvas chinstrap with steel buckle and hook. The 1804 Napoleonic flag has been painted on the right-hand side, indicating that the present helmet saw service with troops of the 1ère Armée française (1st Free French Army) in 1944-1945; some hardly legible inscription has been engraved on the same side, while motto Honneur d'abord (Honor First) adorns the front of the shell.

Comes with its original liner, manufactured by Firestone, complete with khaki cotton web suspension and neckband, russet leather sweatband, green A washers and leather chinstrap.

Scarce homogeneous set, in good overall condition.
