Rare genuine WWII US Army BC-721-B radio receiver and transmitter, a.k.a. 'Handie-Talkie'.
Manufactured by Galvin Mfg. Corporation Company in Chicago, Illinois and dated 1942.
Designed as a single-handed radio, this type, which was based on the BC-611 developed for the infantry, was intended for taking place aboard Waco gliders, offered a short-range voice communication capability (1.2 mile) to small units: company, squad, etc.
Working with preset channels, it was powered by BA-37 and BA-38 dry batteries; pulling out the telescopic antenna would turn the transceiver on.
Complete and in excellent overall condition; never reissued to the French Army.
