Rare genuine WWII Allied double-sided silk escape map, heat-treated to prevent the cloth from unravelling.
Such maps were particularly issued to RAF and USAAF aircrews flying over German-occupied Europe as part of the escape and evasion kits, usually carried in rubberized cloth cases.
Scale: 1:1,000,000. Dated 1943.
The first side (Sheet E) of the present map covers Germany (North), Bohemia & Moravia (Protectorate), Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary (West); the second side (Sheet F) covers Croatia (West & Central), Montenegro (West), Hungary (West), Slovakia (South), Germany (South), Italy (North & Central), as well as Switzerland (East).
Excellent overall condition.
