Nice genuine WWII US folding machete with 11in blade. This type was introduced in USAAF emergency kits B-2 and B-4 in 1942, in order to supersede the Model 18 Collins machete, which was considered too bulky.
Manufactured by Cattaraugus and hallmarked on blade, the present machete is delivered, along with its original blade cover, in its scarce original leather sheath marked Machete with Sheath Type A-1 No. 48C3639.
