Although introduced in 1943 it did not see use until 1944 in the ETO. Highly favored due to its sharp appearance and higher comfort it was not only worn be fighter aces of the U.S. Army Air Forces. Infantry officers in the ETO and especially the ones of the 101st Airborne preferably lay their hands on these new flight jackets as pictures of the Battle of the Bulge proof.
