Trousers, Wool, Pink, Officer's, Elastique, US Army, Cpt. Walter Robinson, Hq., 550th A/B Inf. Bn. & Hq., 17th A/B Div., ETO
Genuine WWII US Army regulation officer's pants in 'pink' shade wool, similar in shape to the dark olive drab trousers ('chocolate').
These trousers were optional for wear with the OD 51 service coat introduced in 1938.
Waist size seems to correspond to 26.
Quite good, worn condition; Talon zipper is in working order.
Various markings visible in these trousers indicate that they once belonged to some Captain Walter S. Robinson, Jr., officer's ASN O-1293698, who served with Headquarters, 550th Airborne Infantry Battalion and Headquarters, 17th Airborne Division.
Created in July 1941 as an independent unit, the 550th Airborne Infantry Battalion was attached to the First Airborne Task Force on the occasion of Operation Dragoon in August 1944, during which it took the town of Le Muy, Southern France. In December of that year, the unit was transferred to the 17th Airborne Division, during the Battle of the Bulge, prior to being disbanded in March 1945.
