Jacket, Grey, US Navy, Ens. Herbert Coggin, USS Alkes
Genuine WWII US Navy officer's grey work jacket, cotton twill.
Virtually similar to the khaki work uniform, featuring four button-flap pockets; authorized in April 1943, the 'battleship gray' color was intended for providing better camouflage aboard vessels, and was only produced during that year.
Good, worn condition; retains all original buttons and shoulder boards, which feature the specific insignia of a Supply Corps Ensign.
The name tag sewn in the collar indicates that the present uniform once belonged to some H.L. Coggin.
Herbert Lee Coggin was born on December 1st, 1923 in Springfied, Missouri. He graduated as an Ensign in 1944 and went on to serve with the crew of the USS Alkes (AK-110). He passed away on March 6, 2022.
