Genuine WWII US Navy anti-vesicant cover made in clear and dark green plastic, introduced in late 1942.
Contract NXSS 50058 indicates a production in 1944.
After unfolding, this cover protected the serviceman along with his weapon and equipment; convenient as an overhead cover in a foxhole or to line its bottom, such covers were also used as shrouds in temporary cemeteries; on D-Day, every GI carried two of these with his gas mask.
