Scarce genuine WWII USAAF seat type parachute, intended for Army Air Forces pilots. The pack is hallmarked Switlik Parachute Company, Trenton, N.J. and features serial number 42-154343

Complete with full harness, backpad, seat pack, canopy, seat cushion and ripcord assembly. The original Log Record (same number) is still present and indicates that the present parachute was regularly carried by Lieutenant J.C. Nowacki, whose name is also visible on the backpad, between November 1943 and January 1944 at Freeman Field, Indiana.

Excellent overall condition.

John Clair Nowacki was born on March 26, 1923 in Clinton, Wisconsin. In February 1944, he was a flight instructor at Turner Field, Georgia. After the war, he reached the rank of Major in the US Air Force. He passed away on March 16, 2001.
