Genuine WWII USAAF Type A-11 leather flying helmet, manufactured by J.G. Menihan Corporation.
The Army Air Forces markings are clearly visible. Size: Medium.
Complete and in good overall condition.
Comes along with a pair of ANB-H-1 receivers, manufactured by Western Electric, with wire and PL-354 jack plug.
Laundry number H 9404 has been inked inside, while the leather name tag sewn above the visor indicates that the present flying helmet once belonged to some G.R. Hutchison.
George Radcliffe Hutchison was born on July 2, 1917 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and joined the Air Corps on March 27, 1942 (ASN 13059633). He was awarded his pilot wings as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1943 (officer's ASN O-799404), was promoted to the rank of 1st Lieutenant in 1944 and went on to serve as a B-29 Superfortress pilot with 17th Bomb. Squadron, 16th Bomb. Group, 20th Air Force in the Pacific in the summer of 1945. He died on September 2 of that year, when his aircraft accidentally crashed in Guam.
