Lamp Assembly, Type A-1, Identification, Aerial Delivery Container, Green, 1943
Genuine WWII USAF Type A-1 lamp assembly, intended for being automatically turned on as the parachute opened, thus assisting with locating A-4 or A-5 cargo containers on the ground during night drops.
Manufactured by Standard Aircraft Products, Inc. in Dayton, Ohio in 1943.
Different light colors were used depending on the cargo in order to identify the contents — this green lamp was thus designed for being used with green canopies (cf. medical supplies).
Very good overall condition.
