Genuine WWII 1st Marine Amphibious Paratrooper insignia, 100% cotton thread.
Created in 1940 as four battalions, (1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Marine Parachute Battalion), making the 1st Marine Parachute Regiment, this unit was supposed to allow the US Marine Corps to do airborne operation.
Even if the regiment never participated in a combat jump, the terrains of Pacific islands were not an ideal area for airborne landings, the members of the 1st Marine Parachute Battalion served in the 1st Marine Division during the Guadalcanal Campaign.
After the regiment was disbanded in 1944, many paramarines were transferred to the 5th Marine Division.
To be worn on the Forrest Green and the Blue Dress.
