Bayonet, M1 Garand, OL & AFH, Shortened, 1942

Genuine WWII US Army M1905 E1 bayonet, initially intended for the M1903 Springfield rifle. Manufactured by Oneida Limited and dated 1942.
Subsequently shortened by American Fork & Hoe (hallmark AFH on the tang) in order to be used with the M1 Garand rifle. This type was redesignated M1 in March 1943.
In quite good overall condition, the present bayonet comes in its OD bakelite scabbard.
