The present card comes along with an original photograph, showing a group of GIs on leave posing by some monument.

Documents, 2nd Lt. Jean Le Bailly, French Tactical Liaison Officer, 4th Infantry Division, ETO
Great genuine WWII corpus of documents related to the service of some Jean Le Bailly , a French citizen who resided in North American prior to joining the Free French Forces, who participated in the Battle of Normandy within a US Army division. This rare homogeneous lot, which is in quite good overall condition, includes dozens of original letters and various administrative documents, some of them being carbon copies. Jean, Henri, Maurice, François Le Bailly was born on June 19, 1911 in Saint-Denis-Hors, Indre-et-Loire, France and volunteered in the regular French Army in 1930-1931. He moved to the United States in 1936 and worked in international business for years, prior to volunteering in the armed forces of Free France in 1943. After spending some time in French North Africa, he was attached to the 4th US Infantry Division as a tactical liaison officer and went on to serve with the latter throughout the Normandy Campaign. In October 1944, he was attached to the French Military Mission seconded to the SHAEF. He passed away on August 10, 2003 in Rennes, Ille-et-Vilaine, France.
