Nice full-size metal replica of the M3 'Grease Gun' submachine gun, with simulated loading and firing mechanism, mobile safe cover, removable magazine and retractable stock. The M3 was designed in 1941 by George Hyde, an experienced gunsmith in the German army during the First World War who emigrated to the USA in 1927. The weapon was commissioned by the US Army because of the effectiveness of the German and British submachine guns in combat, not to mention the high production cost of the Thompson M1928A1 and its operating problems. Genuine WWII US sleeve insignia for Engineering Specialist of the United States Army Air Forces. Representing a stylized airplane engine, this badge created on March, 1st 1943, was issued to mechanics, warehousemen of spare parts, parachute packers, various repairers, welders, boilermakers, sheet metal workers, etc. This badge was to be sewn 4 inches above the bottom of the right sleeve (Service Dress) and on the left chest (working clothes).
