Complete and in very good overall condition; once belonged to some Warrant Officer Class I L.R. Travis, service number R-91892.
The above-mentioned service number indicates that the man to whom it was allocated served in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Lawrence Robert Travis, a.k.a. 'Larry', was born on January 17, 1922 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and volunteered in the RCAF in the spring of 1941, prior to being awarded his observer's badge in November of that year. On July 30, 1943, he was slightly wounded in the crash of Canso serial 9879, a maritime patrol aircraft aboard which he was serving as navigator, which crashed in British Columbia while searching for some enemy submarine; one of the nine aircrew members was killed in the accident. Larry passed away on January 9, 1991 in California.
