Genuine WWII Canadian Army cap badge, The Royal Winnipeg Rifles; to be worn on the field service cap or beret.

Recruited in Manitoba, this elite regiment, which had seen action against the Metis during the Northwest Rebellion in 1885 and against the Boers in South Africa in 1899-1900, fought valiantly again during the Great War in France and Belgium, from the Somme to Vimy and Passchendaele.

As part of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division, the 'Little Black Devils' landed in the first wave on Juno Beach on June 6, 1944, subsequently facing the enemy during the whole Battle of Normandy, participating in violent actions against the 12. ᛋᛋ-Panzerdivision „Hitlerjugend“ at Putot-en-Bessin.

Very good overall condition; shows remnants of black paint — a non-official practice intended for avoiding glinting on the battlefield.
