Frank Matthew Hoffman III was born on July 12, 1924 in Waterbury, Connecticut and was inducted in Federal Service on March 16, 1943 (ASN 31328470). He was awarded his 'jump wings' and went on to serve with Company E, 502nd PIR, 101st Airborne Division, parachuting into Normandy on D-Day prior to taking part in every campaign his unit participated in. He was discharged on January 6, 1946 as a Technician 5th Grade, and passed away on June 26, 1999.
