Dog Tag, S/Sgt. William Doremus, 216th Armored Medical Bn., 16th Armored Division, ETO

Genuine WWII US Army dog tag, of the early Monel type, issued to some Doremus William A., ASN 32307775, vaccinated in 1942, Protestant,  and indicating the name and address of next-of-kin -- here, his mother.

Very good overall condition.

William Albert Doremus was born on November 16, 1914 in Newark, New Jersey and joined the US Army on June 11, 1942. He went on to serve with 216th Armored Medical Battalion, 16th Armored Division and deployed to Europe, where he participated in the liberation of Pilsen, Czechoslovakia. He was discharged on December 15, 1945 as a Staff Sergeant, and passed away on May 14, 1993. His sister Capitola, who had joined the WAC, served with the 9th Air Force in the United Kingdom.
