Machete, M-1942, DISSTON 1944, with Canvas Scabbard, 1944, Normandy

Genuine WWII US M1942 machete, 18-inch blade, made by Disston and dated 1944, featuring khaki bakelite grips. Comes in its original OD 7 canvas scabbard, dated 1943 and on which partial service number S-4801 has been handwritten -- production markings are illegible.

Such machetes were, amongst other branches of service, quite popular with American paratroopers and Marines manning the .30 machine gun.

Homogeneous set in quite good, used condition; found in Normandy.
