Genuine WWII German M38 gas mask, retaining its FE 42 filter cartridge, original lenses and straps.
Size 3; dated 1942.
The metal parts of the mask and the filter cartridge feature a yellow tone, indicating that the present mask was likely re-issued to the Dutch Civil Defense after the Second World War; year [19]48, letter C and digit 8 visible on the filter tend to confirm this theory.
Comes in its original canister (large size: 10.90in), also dated 1942; the outer surfaces of the latter have been covered with a layer of light grey paint following the above-mentioned reassignment.
Nice homogeneous set, in rather good overall condition.
