Mask, Gas, M38, German, 1942, with Canister, 1940, Ob. Gefr. Franz Mikschy

Genuine WWII German M38 gas mask, retaining its FE 41 filter cartridge, original lenses and straps.

Dated 1942; size 2.

Comes in its original canister (height: 10.90in), dated 1940; spare lenses are still present in the inner compartment intended for that purpose, which retains a name tag on the lid: Ogefr. Mikschy Franz.

Nice homogeneous set, in good overall condition; number 976 has been painted on both the mask and its canister.

Some Obergefreiter Franz Mikschy, born on September 1st, 1908, was killed in action on December 3, 1942 on the Eastern Front, yet further research would be necessary to demonstrate that he was the original owner of the present lot.
