Rare and nice genuine Legion of Merit medal, coming in its original case, along with lapel badge and ribbon bar. This is the Legionnaire Degree.

The Legion of Merit was created by the US Government on July 20, 1942 and awarded for exceptionnally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements. This was the first US award that could be given to foreign nationals and the only one to be issued in several degrees -- Legionnaire, Officer, Commander and Chief Commander. 

Homogeneous set, in excellent overall condition. Name Isabelle Biasini has been engraved on the reverse of the medal.

Isabelle Biasini was born on October 11, 1919 in New York City,  joined the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps on September 4, 1942 (ASN A-200289) and went on to serve as the head of the local recruiting station at Wichita, Kansas. She passed away on March 25, 1986.
