Name Francis E. Race has been engraved on the reverse of the medal itself.

Complete and homogeneous set, in very good overall condition.

Francis Edmund Race was born on June 26, 1910 in Springfield, Massachusetts and joined the US Army on March 6, 1941 (ASN 32010785). He went on to serve with Company D, 28th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division and deployed to Europe, where he died of wounds received in action on August 29, 1944 near Brest, Brittany, France. His body was repatriated in 1949 and buried in his hometown.
