Grouping, Sgt. Salvatore Licitra, Co. F, 18th Inf. Regt., 1st Infantry Division, D-Day, Omaha Beach

Rare genuine WWII US Army grouping, made up of a Purple Heart medal coming in its original case, and a Good Conduct Medal.

Name Salvatore S. Licitra has been engraved on the reverse of the Purple Heart medal.

Very nice homogeneous set, in excellent overall condition.

Salvatore Sam Licitra was born on June 28, 1920 in Manhattan, New York City to Italian parents and joined the US Army on February 13, 1943 (ASN 32805462). He went on to serve with Company F, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division and deployed to Europe, landing on Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944 prior to taking part in the whole campaign: Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes and Rhineland. He was wounded in action by shrapnel in the Hürtgen Forest on November 20, 1944. He was discharged on November 25, 1945 as a Sergeant, and passed away on April 18, 1995.
