This authentic WWII US Army M1 helmet, characterized by a front seam and fixed loops, was manufactured by McCord. Although the shell number, possibly 258 A, is challenging to decipher, the helmet maintains its originality, complete with the original canvas chinstrap featuring a metal hook and buckle.

Adding to its historical significance, the helmet bears the painted insignia of a 1st Lieutenant on the front. Remarkably, the present helmet shell exhibits a unique feature—medical tape extends from the front to the rear. While the helmet lacks a documented history, its connection to WWII is evidenced by period photographs showcasing US Rangers wearing similar helmets, particularly during the loading of troop transports for the D-Day invasion.
Additionally, there is speculation that this helmet type may have seen use during the Anzio beach landing.
