Genuine WWII US Army M1 helmet, front rim seam and fixed loops, manufactured by McCord -- shell number is illegible.

Some characteristic marks visible on the outer surface, which is partly oxidized, show that some camouflage net once covered this shell; remnants of a white horizontal bar painted on the rear indicate that the present helmet once belonged to some NCO.

A round hole is located on the left side, marking the entry point of a projectile (diameter: about 5mm) which went through the shell -- see exit point on the right side.

This battlefied relic was found in Normandy.
